MECHATRONICS & INTELLIGENT SYSTEM (MaIS)
Mechatronics is the synergistic integration of Mechanics, Electronics, Embedded Control and IT in the design and realisation of intelligent products, processes and systems. Robotics, mechatronics, and advanced manufacturing and automated fabrication processes are the rapidly developing, interdisciplinary areas of engineering research dealing with the design and realisation of intelligent products, systems and processes. The Mechatronics & Intelligent System (MaIS) is located within the College of Engineering, at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), where it was founded in 2016. MaIS has fundamental and generic research programmes in the key areas of advanced robotics, automated manufacturing and fabrication processes, mechatronics, complex and autonomous systems, and sensory-based and intelligent control. Our research interest involved in Mechatronics, Adaptive control system, Real-time Machine Vision, Visual servo control and Intelligent Automation. This has involved the development of the Strategic Research Agenda for the MaIS, involving several companies such as KTMB Bhd, UMW Aerospace and MTC Sdn Bhd in discussion to establish broad areas of research interests as well as company-specific research challenges. MaIS is initiating the setting up of UiTM-TUT Collaborative Laboratory for spearheading a joint research project between Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia and Toyohashi University of Technology (TUT), Japan.
